How to Enrol

You will be sent or given an enrolment package which contains a wide range of information you will need to enrol your child at our school.  Phone (06) 8357988 or make a visit to school and Jenny, our office administrator will be happy to explain our school requirements to you.

Enrolments can be made at any stage and we currently have children booked in, through until 2011.

Our School attracts over 2/3 of its enrolment from the wider Napier region with many parents considerable distance from our School choosing Port Ahuriri School as the ideal place for their children.  Due to the popularity of Port Ahurirri School, the Ministry of Education has directed the Board of Trustees to implement an enrolment scheme from September 2009.  The Board has decided that it will hold 2 ballots per year for children who want to enrol and are outside our zone. Please contact the school office for the dates of each ballot and for any further specific information.  As you enrol your child, we require a copy of your childs Birth Certificate so that we can verify the date of birth.  This is a legal requirement for us.  We are also required to collect information about your childs immunisation status through a  copy of your childs Immunisation Certificate.

At Port Ahuriri School, we have a pre-entry programme for  new entrant children about to start school.  We welcome your child to school for at least three visits prior to starting.  This time allows your child to experience the day to day situations that they will be involved with during the school day, including break and lunch times. This enables your child to become integrated into the school prior to the "big day".  This makes the process much less stressful for all. The New Entrant teacher will be in touch with you as a new parent to facilitate these sessions.

We also have an Afcare programme that operates before and after school, which is a bonus for busy and/or working parents.  This is a progarmme that allows for flexible arrangements, so if you are busy at the Doctors and suddenly realise it's 3.00 pm, you can give us a quick call and arrange for your children to be cared for until you are able to pick them up.

Port Ahuriri School is a signatory to the Code of Practice for International Students.  We are able to take international students from around the world from Year 1 to 6.  Please feel free to contact the Principal if you are interested in International Education.

We look forward to welcoming all prospective families to our school.  Please contact the School Office to arrange for a suitable time for a visit as we would love to show you around our wonderful School.
