Montessori Education
Montessori Education has a long and successful history in New Zealand. Montessori education is firmly based on respect for, and understanding of the child. The Montessori classroom is a prepared environment that offers a positive learning community, which encourages self-directed learning and respect for others. Within this environment each child is taught individually, they work at their own pace and level under the guidance of a Montessori/State trained teacher. Children are encouraged towards self-confidence, independence, self-discipline and concentration. A life long love of learning is fostered along with respect for others and the environment.
The Montessori students are integrated in the wider school. They participate in all aspects of the general school activities. They receive the State Curriculum, which is delivered using the Montessori method of education.
