Port Ahuriri School 10 February 2023
Dear Parents & Caregivers
Kia ora Koutou
We have had a really enjoyable time settling back into school and it has been great getting back into doing the things we love here at Port Ahuriri. We had an awesome assembly this morning celebrating this weeks successes, ask your tamariki about the 'minute to win it challenge'.
This week we were lucky enough to have lifeguards from around the region come to PAS to deliver the Surf to Schools programme. Beach safety is such an important part of living in NZ and it is crucial that our tamariki learn these safety skills. This was particularly beneficial to Aoraki Hub who are off to Camp Mahia soon where they will have the chance to practice these beach safety skills. There are some photos below of the children in action.
It has been really great to see so many parents and whanau book in to our meet the teacher evenings this week. It was lovely to see families chatting and mingling outside while you waited and the feedback from the teachers is that they have really enjoyed the chance to spend time with each family talking about their tamariki. If you haven't booked in yet, you still can. Follow this link https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter the code m8dmw to book in for Monday or Tuesday next week.
Just a reminder about the drop off/pick up zone. Please do not park or wait there. This is a NO PARKING and NO WAITING ZONE. It can get really dangerous if people do not adhere to these rules, especially after school. Please circle the block until your child is standing outside waiting and then you will be able to pull in and easily and pick them up once they are ready. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this. It is a great system to have and works really well when we all stick to the rules.
Next Friday (17th February) we would like to invite you to school for our Art Deco picnic from 12.15pm-1.15pm. Dress up, BYO picnic and bring your whanau along to celebrate Art Deco weekend.
On Friday 3rd March our teachers will be attending a paid union meeting from 1.30pm-3.00pm. Our school remains open, however there will be minimal staff on site so if you would like to start your weekend early on this day we would be happy for you to collect your children at lunchtime. Please just make sure you let the office know.
That is all from me this week. Enjoy your weekend everyone and I will see you all on Monday.
Nga mihi,
Emma
